Elaine Schear

Elaine (Lainey) Schear has been studying and writing poetry and short prose for a couple of decades. Her work has appeared in Pearl, Blue Line, The Bellevue Literary Review, The Banyan Review, Poetry East, The Boston Globe, and others, including Big Table Press, publisher of her chapbook Nine Hours from Oswego. She is a founding member of the Boston-based Z Street Writers, which published Between Us, an anthology of their poetry and prose, in 2021. She lives in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she teaches and tutors writing with high school students and adults. She is the founder of a nonprofit offering academic opportunity to talented urban public high school students whose financial resources are limited.
