Joel Savishinsky

Joel Savishinsky is a retired anthropologist, gerontologist, recovering academic, and unrepentant activist. His books The Ends of Time: Life and Work in a Nursing Home and Breaking the Watch: The Meanings of Retirement in America, each won the Gerontological Society of America’s book-of-the-year prize. His poetry and essays have appeared in Blood and Thunder, Metafore, The New York Times, Poetry Quarterly, and The Raw Art Review.
